2023's Dirty Dozen and Clean Fifteen

Since 2004, The Environmental Working Group (EWG) has been assisting shoppers in avoiding pesticides in their produce through an annual shopping guide. Each Spring, the EWG showcases a Dirty Dozen list, which includes produce heavily sprayed with pesticides and encourages buyers to opt for organic choices. Conversely, they also present a Clean Fifteen list, featuring produce with minimal pesticide residues, making it safe to purchase conventionally.

This guide proves invaluable, especially for those new to buying organic produce, providing a helpful starting point. Moreover, it serves as a crucial reminder that ensuring our health goes beyond just the nutrients in produce; we must also consider what lies on the surface—making informed choices about the food we consume.
